AQA GCSE Media Studies Unit 2 Understanding the Media

This seller donates to charity. Specifically written for AQA GCSE Media Studies Unit 2, 'Investigating the Media' whereby students must "analyse and respond to media texts/ topics using the key media concepts and appropriate terminology; however the skills covered are necessary for all media students. This bundle will enable you to teach the key media concepts using an excellent documentary (which is freely available on YouTube) as your anchor point. Note- this pack does not look at documentary as a specific 'genre'. This pack would be great to introduce the key concepts or to consolidate knowledge. Plenty of Ofsted- friendly (booo) stuff in here too. Also useful for revision. The mark schemes provided are adapted from the AQA GCSE spec but, as noted, all specs require investigations and analyses of media products and the success criteria I have written is easily adaptable. This pack contains; - 76 slide PowerPoint covering the media focuses listed below - class tasks/ discussions - homework tasks - 3 exam style assessments with marking criteria grids provided for each (inspired by the AQA GCSE Media syllabus but easily adaptable for your own spec) - teacher notes Covers- - denotation and connotation - dvd cover analysis - mise en scene - music and sound - mode of address - genre conventions - ideology - camera shots - institution - narrative - representation

AQA GCSE English Literature Paper 2 Comparing Poems Student Friendly Mark Scheme

(3)
As we all know (as with all mark schemes) the AQA GCSE English Literature mark scheme is far from user friendly for students. This resource is a very detailed breakdown of the requirements for Band 6 on the poetry comparison question- it tells students exactly what they need to do for each of the six criteria using easily understandable language. It contains descriptors for the absolute top grade so that the students can easily get the sense of what an A* essay on poetry requires. Naturally this means the resource is aimed at middle to high ability students. Personally I use a traffic light system with these grids (green/ amber/ red dots next to each statement) but you may just want to highlight and you can adjust these to your own school's marking policy easily. Suitable for any assessed poetry work and will enable you to save a lot of time and stress as you won't need to write exhaustive comments and/ or can allow students to self assess. I have had excellent feedback on this so far and hope you find it as useful as I do. Please do browse my other resources and contact me directly with any queries. Happy marking :) DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE MY OWN PERSONAL INTERPRETATIONS OF THE MARK SCHEME. OFFICIAL MARK SCHEMES AVAILABLE AT AQA.ORG.UK
